A Warm Welcome
Hello Hello, I’m Gareth (He/Him)
I’m a counsellor who offers a warm, down-to-earth space where you can talk openly and be yourself—without feeling judged, analysed, or like you need to have the “right” words.
I know that starting counselling can feel like a big step (and sometimes a slightly awkward one at first), so I aim to make things feel as comfortable and human as possible. You don’t need to prepare anything or have it all figured out—we can just start where you are.
How I Am as a Therapist
I’m naturally someone who is calm, thoughtful, and genuinely curious about people and their experiences.
In our work together, I’ll listen carefully, support you in making sense of what’s going on, and gently help you explore things at your own pace. Sometimes that might mean sitting with difficult feelings, and other times it might mean finding small, practical ways forward.
I won’t tell you what to do or pretend to have all the answers—but I will walk alongside you while you figure out what feels right for you.
And yes, there may even be the occasional moment of lightness or humour along the way, because therapy doesn’t always have to feel heavy to be meaningful.
My Own Rainbow Heart
As a gay therapist, I offer an LGBTQ+ affirmative space where you can feel safe to be fully yourself. My own journey has been full of ups and downs from understanding who I am through to acceptance in a world that sometimes feels hard to navigate.
I understand that identity can shape how we move through the world—whether that’s in relationships, family dynamics, or simply feeling understood. You won’t need to explain or justify those parts of yourself here.
Who I Work With?
I work with individuals and couples who may be experiencing:
– Anxiety or feeling overwhelmed
– Low mood or depression
– Relationship difficulties
– Questions around identity or self-esteem
– Life changes or a general sense of feeling “stuck”
You don’t need to have a clear reason to come to counselling (it’s your space to have a chat and a vent about life)—many people simply know that something doesn’t feel quite right, and that’s enough.
Training & Professional Background
Training & Qualifications
I am a trained Integrative Counsellor which means I use a variety of modalities within the therapy room. I qualified with a Level 4 Diploma in Therpeutic Counselling and furthered my training achieving a First Class Honours Degree in Counselling Solutions.
Professional Membership
I am an accredited member of NCPS and work in line with their ethical framework, which means I am committed to providing a safe, professional, and confidential service. My work is held to high standards and continued training and development.
Ongoing Training & Supervision
I also continue to develop my practice through ongoing training and supervision. I attend supervision every month to ensure my work is ethical, lawful and professional.
A Personal Note About Me
Outside of my work, I’m someone who values the quieter side of life (I’m actually quite introverted at times)—time to reflect, meaningful conversations, and time with those closest to me.
My time away from therapy is spent reading a good book, watching a good TV show (yes I love a good recommendation), and I have a huge passion for travel and a dream to adopt the “Vanlife” way of living (watch this space). My favourite holiday destination is Orlando, no surprise I am huge Disney adult!
Working Together
If you’re thinking about starting counselling, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
